Jean and Nic, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

From the ceremony on Casa de Hyder’s expansive green lawn to the wedding parade and fireworks for the finish, Jean and Nic’s wedding weekend proved an explosion of joy and fun. The Dallas couple chose this unique venue in San Miguel de Allende because of its spacious accommodations and gorgeous party spaces all contained in one location behind unassuming Bouganvilla walls. One of our all-time favorite venues, Casa de Hyder features over 13,000 square feet of guest rooms, event spaces, a pool and gardens. Its authentically-Mexican décor includes rich fabrics, diverse hues, and artwork and collectibles from as early as the 17th century.

For the welcome party on the grounds, our team at Emily Clarke Events created bright, oversized letters spelling “HOLA” to stand over the pool, and lime-shaped die-cut cards with matching tequila placecards served as escort cards. For the ceremony on the lush lawn, florals of red, pink, peach and white framed an ornate iron doorway. The color scheme popped against bridesmaids dresses of gold and white and coalesced beautifully with blue and white tile details interspersed throughout the venue and the rest of the day’s events. For example, the reception tablescape implemented blue and white plates, a gold napkin ring inscribed as the name card, and menus with the tile-like pattern.

After the ceremony, the bride, groom and guests celebrated with a San Miguel tradition of a “callejoneada” wedding parade through the streets, led by huge paper-mache “mojiggangas” puppets, a mariachi band, and a donkey loaded with tequila! Talk about fun. Guests reconvened for the reception in the garden, where we hung gold paper flowers tagged with pink escort cards on a wall of ivy. To liven the space displaying the gold and white cake, we hung red roses from a flower-covered ceiling. Finally, the couple and their guests danced on an elegant blue and white dance floor while fireworks went off overhead.

We’ve been reliving the details and many delights of Jean and Nic’s day ever since and will for some time! Thanks to the bride and groom for trusting us with the joy of implementing your vision.
